"Kiyoshi Tokutomi began his diary on the day his only daughter, Yukiko, was born in 1957, a practice he continued until he died in 1987. He and his wife, Kiyoko, founded the Yuki Teikei Haiku Society in Aug 1978. As the Society celebrateds its thirty-fifth anniversary, this translation provides historical context to its early years"--Back cover.
