Sheri Reynolds, Professor of Southern Literature at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va., and a novelist and playwright, delivers a lecture about promises which are intimately related to what we mean when we talk about our humanness. It is part of our human nature to make promises, and everyone must live with promises whether kept or broken. In moments of great conflict, promises are kept, debated, and/or broken. Broken promises can sometimes be a map to a new way of life. She reads from her play Orabelle's wheelbarrow. It shows the complication of promises. Includes responses by Dr. Carol L. Schweitzer and Dr. Thomas M. Waltz.
